Scott Stulen is a painter, installation, and video artist whose work explores personal and collective memory, pop culture, and the Midwest. He is the Curator of Education the Rochester Art Center and an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota. Recent solo exhibitions include Carry on my wayward one at Franklin Art Works and stuff I made in my couchfort and my continuing obsession with Bridget Riley at the Rochester Art Center. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2004 Katherine E. Nash Purchase Prize and a 2005 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
He curated the 2005 International Video Festival and Artrock, an annual concert and exhibition event featuring artist/musicians at the Rochester Art Center. Currently he is lecturing monthly as part of the Center’s Contemporary Art 101 series.
Scott’s work will be included in the upcoming Adjunct Faculty Exhibition at the Katherine Nash Gallery at the University of Minnesota February 21 – March 23, 2006. He lectures and curates the monthly Contemporary Art 101 series at the Rochester Art Center (also featured on mnartists.org). And he is curating the second annual Artrock! concert/exhibition this summer in Rochester while preparing new work for summer and fall 2006 exhibitions.
